More VBS!
VBS!!! The week continues. A huge thank you to all the volunteers who are guiding and nurturing our youth each day.
"I want it all. I want it all. I want it all, and I want it now." Patience is... at the center of love... wrapped in hope... the gift of knowing when to wait and when to act. This Sunday we will look in our relationship with God, with one another, and with ourselves, and seek guidance from Scripture on what patience is. Bible study begins at 9:30am, with our worship to begin at 10:30am. Looking forward to seeing you there, and hearing from you what patience is. God bless you!
Last Sunday we worshiped through humor, and found that Holy Humor is another powerful, energizing, and loving way that God shows His love for us, and we for Him. This Sunday we will read Psalm 150, and center our worship on praising the Lord. David writes of the ebb and flow of his life, and how through it all, he was at his best, as were the people of Israel, when they praised the Lord. What praises do you have today? How, in the struggles and the victories, has God been with you? Gather with us this Sunday at 10:30am as we lift up praises to God in worship. I'm looking forward to hearing your stories as we gather together, a community of faith. God's grace and peace be with you all!
Easter activities for young children and families throughout Sandy Cross. Thank you for all who volunteered their time, talent, food, and fun supplies. Happy Easter!!
Easter egg hunt, activities, and lunch to follow are still on schedule today. All events will be held in the church.Looking forward to seeing you all at 11:00am!
Friends and family in Christ: This Sunday we celebrate Palm Sunday! We celebrate the love of Jesus, obedient to the Father, and in caring for all humanity, as He journeys into Jerusalem on the way to the cross. We celebrate our Lenten journey on the way to the empty tomb.We celebrate the freedom He gives us, unbridled from sin. In all this, we get to choose. That is the greatest gift of love, of soul freedom as we embrace our Baptist roots. You are not coerced, you are not forced. You are invited. You are free to choose. We are not the first to wrestle with choices. Scripture is filled with God reaching out to His people. This Holy week, the Gospel of Matthew highlights a critical choice: to believe in the promises of the resurrection. It is my prayer that you choose to join us this Sunday, 9:30am for Bible Study, and 10:30am for worship. I pray you invite others to join in worship as well as we sing, pray, and fellowship in the message. Looking forward to worshiping along side you !God's grace and peace be with you!

Friends and Family in Christ, This 5th Sunday I offer you a devotion: focus on God's words, and His Holy works, in your heart and the world. He who created the stars, the sun, the mountains and oceans, and all living things, is creating something new with you. We read in Isaiah 43:19, "See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?" As we continue our journey together through Lent, allow the Holy Spirit to take rest in your heart. See the wonderful and joyful works of our Lord in the world around you, and in you. In all you do, I continue to pray for you: the the Lord will shine his light before you, and within you. God's grace and peace be with you!
Wednesday night Bible study: come watch the building of the Temple! We'll start the video at 6:15pm!
Double post here: First, remember tonight to set your clocks forward one hour! Second: This Sunday we begin our journey through Lent as we prepare our our heart, mind, body, and spirit for the empty tomb on Easter morning. This is a holy time, a time of clearing away that which interferes with or blocks our communication with God. A time of removing that which distracts from hearing, speaking, and acting as God's holy people. A time of digging deeper into the fullness of His word. If we are to have a bountiful harvest, we must prepare the fields. I look forward to seeing you all this Sunday as we begin this holy journey on the way to Easter morning. Bible school begins at 9:30am, with our worship service starting at 10:30am. God's grace and peace be with you all!
Have you ever been tired? Deep down, soul-drained, can't go on tired? We're not alone in this feeling. Elijah fell beneath the tree ready to give up. Time and again Jesus went off on His own to pray seeking guidance, and too was strengthened by the Lord for the missions He had. This Sunday we will read in Luke 5 as the disciples, tired from a long night of unsuccessful fishing, we're told to go out and cast their nets once more. In their obedience, their nets filled to the point of breaking! Tired? Come worship this Sunday, and see just how God refills us. And through Him, our nets will be filled to the point of breaking. Bible Study begins at 9:30am, with our worship hour at 10:30am. Looking forward to seeing you then!
Happy New Year! With the new year we reflect on the joys and the struggles of the past year. We cast our vision forward to the hope and promise of God who reminds us in Revelation, "And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” The New Year calls for us to strengthen our resolve in bringing God's message to the world in prayer, thought, and especially action. To that end, I hope you will consider joining in support of GCHS for proctoring for the end of semester exams. These will run from January 14-17, beginning at 7:50am and ending 3:10pm. Whatever time you can donate would be much appreciated. For those who can donate a few hours that week, please contact Teri Campbell. She is coordinating our efforts to assist the High School. As we begin our journey together in 2019, know that I am in prayer for you, your family, your health, your journey, and the ministries which God places before you. May you ever see His light before you illuminating your path, and hear His voice guiding you into the world to make straight the path for all. "Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." Isaiah 43:19
Angel Tree gifts are being picked up by the Salvation Army Monday or Tuesday. If you have not brought them to the church yet, please call Linda or Ellen, and they will come out and get your gifts for your angel. Also, Lottie Moon Post Office cards will be sorted on Wednesday evening. If you were planning to drop those off today, you can do so Monday or Tuesday, and we'll get them delivered for you. Thank you!
Brothers and Sisters in Christ, may God's peace and joy be in your hearts. On recommendation from Building and Grounds, the Deacons have decided to cancel services today due to snow and ice on the roads. With love in your hearts, read through today's scripture passage, Luke 2:8-14 and the messasge of Joy which the angels bring to the shepherds, "I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people!" You, my church family, bear that same message to the world. Go to where the people are, bring God's message of love, hope, peace, and joy to the world! Your light will guide others to the manger, and into that heart changing, life redeaming, soul saving relationship with Jesus. Be safe, and should you need any assistance with issues in this weather, please call me or your Deacons. We are always here for you!
Friends and families in Christ: may the spirit of Advent wrap around your hearts and encourage your walk as we prepare for the coming of the King! This Sunday, Dec 2, I implore you: do not miss your worship hour. This is a day, this hour, is for you and about you. Sixty minutes (probably a little less) to strengthen your relationship with God. Do not miss this Sunday. Whatever might whisper to you to enthrall you away, rebuke that whisper and come worship. Sunday will be our second Advent service, this one focused on Peace: cultivating peace, nurturing peace, growing peace in our hearts. It is through peace, as we read in 2 Tim 3, "that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." God bless you, keep you, inspire you, guide you, and may you forever hear His voice and follow His path. See you at 10:30am on Sunday!
Friends and family of Sandy Cross. Tomorrow, Tuesday August 21, we celebrate the life and love of our friend, Janice Peede. At the request of the family, we will meet graveside at 11:00am at the Roundtree/Stallings cemetary on County Line Road. Following the brief graveside service, Ms. Eleanor Glenn has invited everyone to her home for refreshments, fellowship, and sharing a time to remember Janice. She thanks you all for the prayers and the outpouring of love she and her family have experienced from each and every one here at Sandy Cross. God's grace and peace be with you all.
